Description
The Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) Psychomotor Skills scenario set includes eight scenarios that were created by HealthCare Simulation South Carolina (HCSSC) and the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE). These scenarios incorporate the EMT- Basic/EMT Psychomotor Exam grading metrics (with permission) used by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) within the certification process and are intended to support standardized, quantifiable educational practice to prepare students for the certification exam. The psychomotor examination is an end of course examination administered by a state approved organization. The programmed scenarios in this set are designed for practice or during the actual examination, where allowed. The eight scenarios found in this set are:
1. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 1 (Bleeding Control/Shock Management)
2. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 2 (BVM Ventilation)
3. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 3 (Cardiac Arrest AED)
4. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 4 (Joint Immobilization)
5. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 5 (Long Bone Immobilization)
6. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 6 (Oxygen Administration)
7. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 7 (Spinal Immobilization Seated)
8. EMT-B Psychomotor Skills Case 8 (Spinal Immobilization Supine)
All of the scenarios in the EMT-B Psychomotor Skills scenario set have been developed for several software platforms. Each scenario takes full advantage of Laerdal programming capabilities. As a result, the scenarios are easily run from a well-structured menu. Debriefing logs include color-coded check marks to provide easy-to follow, objective-based debriefing guides. In addition, multimedia is embedded throughout the scenarios to provide enhanced fidelity and “just-in-time” participant feedback. At the conclusion of each scenario, the debrief log shows the number and percentage of correct steps completed.
