Description
The HealthCare Simulation South Carolina (HCSSC) set of Vital Signs Measurement for Healthcare Professionals scenarios is designed to provide formative and summative assessment with structured feedback for any healthcare students learning to take, measure, and assess vitals signs.
The HCSSC Vital Signs Measurement for Healthcare Professionals scenario set* includes 5 scenarios divided into three components:
1. Vital Signs Procedural Steps (1 scenario)
2. Vital Signs Measurement Scenarios (4 multi-case scenarios)
Each vital signs measurement scenario presents three cases. Students can run these scenarios for each other in a small group setting. The scenarios provide immediate feedback upon completion of each case.
All of the scenarios in the Vital Signs Measurement for Healthcare Professionals set have been developed for several of the Laerdal software platforms. Each version of the scenario takes full advantage of Laerdal programming capabilities. As a result, the scenarios are easily run from a well-structured menu. Debriefing logs include color-coded check marks to provide easy-to follow, objective-based debriefing guides. In addition, multimedia is embedded throughout the scenarios to provide enhanced fidelity or “just-in-time” participant feedback. The Vital Signs Procedural scenario automatically grades, with the debrief log displaying the number and percentage of correct steps completed.
*All scenarios in this set can be found in SimStore™. HCSSC scenarios are programmed to support proven methods for objective-based feedback and Practical Simulation.
